Wavelens

Terms of use

Effective 21 October 2026 · Wavelens for Android

What you're getting

Wavelens is a passive radio-survey app. It listens to signals that nearby devices broadcast on their own and tells you what they probably are. It does not transmit, jam, connect to, or interfere with anything. It is a tool for awareness, like a radar detector or a Wi-Fi analyser.

Acceptable use

Use the app lawfully and considerately. In particular:

  • Receiving broadcast radio signals is lawful in most places, but you are responsible for knowing the rules where you are.
  • Do not use the app to stalk, harass, or track a person. Its "following" and "riding with you" features exist to tell you whether you are being tracked.
  • Do not use it to locate, approach or interfere with people or equipment, including law-enforcement personnel and equipment.
  • Do not drive distracted. Mount the phone and rely on the voice and tone alerts; the screens are for when you are stopped.

Accuracy

Classification is a best-effort guess from public signature data. Vendors change hardware, the same radio chips are sold into many products, and some devices lie about what they are. A "body cam" may be a bus camera; a "tracker" may be someone's earbuds; a device that appears to follow you may be a coincidence of traffic. Treat every alert as a prompt to look, not as a fact. Check before you act on anything the app tells you.

Purchases and refunds

The app is sold once, for a single price, through Google Play. Google handles payment and refunds under Google Play's refund policy. The build published on GitHub is the same app, offered free for sideloading; support for it is best-effort.

Licence

You may install and use the app on Android devices you own or control. You may not redistribute it for payment, remove its attribution, or present it as your own. The signature list inside the app draws on public registries and published research and is provided for use within the app.

Warranty and liability

The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any loss or damage arising from its use or from reliance on its output, including missed detections, false alerts, battery use, or any decision you make as a result. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.

Changes

These terms may change when the app changes. The current version is always at this address, and material changes are noted in the app's release notes. Questions: wavelensapp@gmail.com.
